European PTC/USER members can look forward to several local user events this fall. In October and November, the PTC/USER World Event will visit Germany, Switzerland and The Netherlands. These conferences will offer many of the presentations and training opportunities made available to PTC/USER members in Nashville this summer.
Survey Thanks
Thanks to nearly 400 PTC/USER members for participating in the World Event survey. Your feedback will help us in planning future conferences. Congratulations to Shawn Kelley at Cummins who won the drawing for an Apple iPod. See below for a summary of the more interesting results.
Attention Lance Wannabees
Dan McCaherty will be holding the second annual Tour de Tazewell bike ride this month. The ride through the cornfields and rolling hills in central Illinois was established in honor of former TC chair Marcus Vasquez, who lost his battle with cancer. If you would like to participate on the ride, please e-mail Dan for more information.
Scott Schultz
As some exploder subscribers may be aware, one of our members has suffered a terrible tragedy in his family. Scott Schultz, a frequent and popular presenter at the PTC/USER conferences, was visiting Brazil with his wife Eleny where they were victims of a violent robbery attempt. Eleny is now recovering from a bullet wound to the head. Scott wishes to thank everyone for their kindness and prayers. You can read about the story at elenynicolini.com. Donations are being accepted to defray the family's medical expenses ($160,000 to date) which unfortunately were not covered by insurance.

World Event Survey Results
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
|
|
| |
On the whole, people were very positive about their experiences at the PTC/USER World Event in Nashville. The conference survey revealed 96% of attendees felt their trip was a good investment of their time. The overall score was 4.4 on a 5.0 scale, the highest score ever for a conference.
We also talked to people who don't attend the conference. They face the same issues in that travel restrictions and budget constraints are a major factor preventing attendance for nearly 65%, 29% also indicating that management approval is difficult to obtain.
The difficulty in justifying travel is reinforced by the responses that a

different location (48%) would make it more likely that people would attend. Many people suggested having a regional conference in their area.
On the ugly side, the one negative comment repeated consistently was that the nTAG interactive badges were just too heavy, in spite of their very useful functions and of course, the "coolness" of it all. We're talking to nTAG about future revisions of the units, which are expected to be significantly lighter.
Your feedback is tremendously helpful to our conference planners. We try to incorporate many of your suggestions.
