...there is a way to shade some components in an assembly and leave others in hidden or not hidden display mode?

1. Select View, Model Setup, Component Display.

2. Select Create and the system will prompt you to enter a Display State Name.

3. Pick the Display Mode and components you want to specify.

This functionality is almost identical to Simplified Rep.
