Key Features of Pro/ENGINEER Routed Systems Designer

PTC developed the XML-based Pro/ENGINEER Routed Systems Designer for electrical, cabling, and piping design and manufacturing. Using existing MEDUSA technology and a new object model, Routed Systems Designer provides robust and easy-to-use 2D diagram-ming tools and symbol data import capabilities for a variety of industries such as aerospace, automotive, and shipbuilding. Key features include:

Familiar interface. Pro/ENGINEER Routed Systems Designer delivers the same look and feel as the rest of Pro/ENGINEER, making it easy for current users to learn quickly and master its capabilities. The familiar Windows®-like interface allows users to access and control designs and to cut, copy, clone, and paste sheets between folders.

Catalog Explorer for flexible data structure. A Windows Explorer-style utility administers the symbol library catalog, making navigation quick and easy. Users can create multi-part components with different appearances for different diagrams, all with user-defined properties. Any combination of these properties can be shown as “label text” on the diagram, with automatic updates when the properties change.

Fast, configurable reporting. Users can create custom reports by pointing and clicking on options that define the report’s content and sort method, as well as its conditional criteria. Users can then save reports to a file or back onto one of the sheets in the design.

Conformity through to 3D routing. All Pro/ENGINEER 2001 routed systems products will share an XML-based communications layer, enabling the export of all component and connectivity information to PTC’s 3D routing products. The XML dictionary (dtd) provides additional functionality that allows third-party vendors to plug into PTC’s routed systems product family.
