Expanding the Community While Keeping the Focus

For those who attended the 2001 Pro/USER and Windchill Developers International Conference back in June, you know the meaning of knowledge-sharing. This event marked the 12th successful gathering of some of the brightest and most enthusiastic minds in the PTC software user community.

But as the name of the conference suggests, we are no longer just Pro/ENGINEER® users. As many of us have come to recognize, in order to collaborate (to use the buzzword of the decade) we must increasingly share information across applications. And leveraging Pro/ENGINEER data in this way is essential for extracting the maximum value out of a major software investment.

This realization has led the Pro/USER Board of Directors to rename the corporation PTC/USER, Inc. to better represent the interests of our membership. Pro/USER will, however, continue to exist as a division. This means that the mission of Pro/files magazine and profilesmagazine.com will remain unchanged—to provide the best available platform for technical information and knowledge-sharing for Pro/ENGINEER users.

In fact, we are introducing new processes and adding expert support to this publication to improve both its content and its impact on the community. We can’t be successful, however, without your continued involvement. For those of you who have never done so, you could begin to participate by submitting a technical tip to the new Profiles Tips & Tricks Contest. Or you could offer ideas for articles and features that you’d like to see in future issues. Just send your queries or comments to the editor via profilesmagazine.com.

Everyone wins when we all contribute.
