Salary Survey—What Counts for Pro/ENGINEER® Users

During the summer of 2001, ProE Designs.com hosted its second annual survey to develop a profile of the typical Pro/ENGINEER user. From the 725 responses, we found that the average user looks something like this:

• A married male with a bachelor’s or associate’s degree working in the engineering or manufacturing industry.
• He is 26-35 years of age, has five years of Pro/ENGINEER experience, and works in the engineering business.
• He makes $60,000 per year.
• His favorite aspect of his job is the challenge that it brings, and he is somewhat satisfied with job security.

Here are some of the other detailed findings from our survey.

Computer/Electronics and Consulting are the highest-paying industries. (See chart, Average Salary by Industry)

Business owners and consultants have the highest compensation. (See chart, Average Salary by Title)

More education brings a higher salary (See chart, Average Salary by Degree)

Salary increases with more experience. (See chart, Average Salary by Pro/ENGINEER Experience)

While most respondents hold a bachelor's or associate's degree, 9% completed their education in high school (See chart, Degree Earned by Respondents)

Contract workers earn substantially more than permanent workers. (See chart, Average Salary by Work Status)

The reliability of the results can be determined by the number of respondents for each year.
