What is Pro/INTRALINK Branching?
(continued from page 2)

Branching in Action

In this example, a slot machine assembly and one of its components, roller part, are branched to test new ideas for the roller. The design team needs to see how the roller concepts work in the slot machine, requiring the assembly and its component be assigned branch names.

1. Use Pro/LOCATE® to find slot_machine.asm and roller.prt (Fig. 4).

Figure 4.

2. Select the objects to be branched and select Objects, Branch, Create Branch (Fig. 5).

Figure 5.

The Create Branch dialog box will appear. Set the Dependency to None. Select the Objects listed and enter the Name “reno” under branch information (Fig. 6). Select the Apply button and then OK.

Create as many branch names as required for the selected objects. Verify that the branch name was assigned to the object by highlighting the slot_machine.asm and accessing the information from Objects, Information or from a right mouse button click, Information.
