6. Now that the maximum modulus and minimum modulus are known, you can optimize the beam to approach a constant modulus. Create another datum analysis feature to track the difference between the maximum and minimum values using a relation. Figs. 20-21 show the creation of the feature and the relation to define the difference as a parameter named error. Minimizing the output parameter, error, causes the beam to approach a constant modulus.

7. Use BMXs optimization/feasibility functionality to optimize the part. Fig. 22 shows the dimensions to select to modify for optimization, while Fig. 23 shows the setup of the optimization dialog window. Note that the error parameter is being minimized and there are no constraints (although you can add constraints such as keeping the mass below a certain value).
