8. Select compute to optimize the model. Figs. 24-25 show graphs of diameters D1 and D2 as the part is optimized. Fig. 26 shows the graph of the dimension, height, as the part is optimized. Fig. 27 graphs the error as the part is optimized. The error does not reach zero, but becomes as small as possible with the given ranges for the parameters. The new optimized part is shown in Fig. 28.

Another approach to measuring a section modulus is to set up datum analysis features to measure the cross sectional properties at strategic locations along the beam, such as the hole locations. The modulus can be measured using the relations analysis feature. Using those discrete locations, the part could be optimized to have the same modulus. While this approach eliminates the need for a field point and a user defined analysis, it would not show a continual graph along the beam.
