Having implemented Pro/INTRALINK recently, I was faced with the challenge of importing several versions of Pro/ENGINEER data that had no PDM (Product Data Management) reference. These files were maintained through Windows Explorer and stored in individual folders specifying the revision date, keeping all object versions segregated and eliminating overlapping design changes.

In essence, the way to maintain version history is to import the Pro/ENGINEER objects from oldest to newest.

To import drawings and parts:

1. Go to Object, Import and browse to the oldest version.

2. Modify attribute information, folder location, release level and revision.

3. Check imported object(s) into the Commonspace. Click on the Baseline tab within the Checkin window and create a baseline to maintain version information for easy retrieval. Creating a baseline is an optional step that works well for version/revision tracking and history.
